ABOUT ME

I am a follower of Jesus. I believe God loves me passionately, recklessly, without caution, regret, boundary, limit or breaking point. I believe in the scandal of Grace. Although I am a skilled sinner and fail miserably daily, I know that Jesus died to set me free - free from guilt, insecurity and fear. I am covered by Grace and loved furiously by God.

THE LAST DAYS OF OLD BEIJING BY MICHaEL MEYER

Michael tells of his years of living in the hutongs of Beijing. It's nonfiction - a great read. I have my friends read this one before they visit Beijing. It's just too good not to recommend.

RED SCARF GIRL BY JI LI LIANG

Ji Li Jian writes of her childhood growing up during the Cultural Revolution. It's a true story of family hardships, fear, growth and change. I recommend it to everyone who travels to China - just as insight into what happened not too long ago and how it has shaped the relationships of Chinese families even today.

PEONY by Pearl S Buck

Pearl Buck was the daughter of a missionary in China. She grew up there and often wrote beautiful books with plots immersed deeply in Chinese culture. She's one of my favoite authors.
